The Hills Gets Renewed for a Fourth Season

The Hills are alive on MTV.

The hit reality show is returning for a fourth season, a rep for MTV tells Usmagazine.com exclusively.

The new season will premiere in August with 19 new episodes.

"They just started shooting," an insider tells Us. "The fourth season will be about what they ended up doing this summer. Lauren and Whitney will still be working at People's Revolution."

The Hills' current season ends Monday, May 12, with a pre- and post- show party in the Hollywood Hills (to air live on MTV). Usher and rapper Young Jeezy will perform their hit "Love in This Club."

Fans will also have a chance to quiz the stars, according to a statement.

And, of course, the drama will ensue.

On Monday's episode, Audrina Patridge felt shut out by Lauren Conrad's close friendship with Lauren "Lo" Bosworth (she even told Justin Bobby she considered moving out).

"Lauren makes a heartfelt attempt to patch things up with Audrina, but it may be too late," the statement reads. "Meanwhile, Spencer fears he's going to lose Heidi forever when he learns she's taking a job in Las Vegas."

It was among the most transparent "blind items" in history: "Which weekly glossy just signed a megamillion-dollar contract with a certain annoying celebrity couple?" The New York Daily News asked in its April 20 gossip column. "The deal is, the magazine will get exclusive interviews with the couple, but in turn, they need to break up (again), get back together (again) and actually get married."

Could that mystery couple be anyone other than The Hills lovebirds Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag? "It certainly sounds like it's them, and it seems history could repeat itself," says a friend of the couple. "They did the same thing last year. You would think everyone would be wise to it by now!"

Indeed, reports surfaced last September that Spencer and Heidi — who got engaged in May 2007 — were about to announce they'd ended their relationship and would then sell their separate stories to the media, before getting paid for exclusive photos of a staged "reunion" getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. And although a rep for The Hills — which has a reputation for being completely scripted — denied it at the time, incredibly, it played out exactly that way for the couple!

"As friends, we laugh to ourselves whenever we see 'serious' coverage of the ups and downs of Heidi and Spencer's relationship," says their pal. "It's astounding anyone could still believe any of it is spontaneous."

As for which magazine is conspiring with Speidi? Beats Us!

Yes, we're talking about Hills power couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. They positively radiated fame and success at the premiere party for Harold at 1 Oak last night and we were lucky enough to bask in their glorious glory. Just when we thought standing next to them couldn't get any better, we mustered up the courage to speak to them. And you know what? We found out they read us! They really do read us!! We hope you enjoy our moment with them as much as we did:

Spencer: You're with New York magazine? No, no way. You're the "fugly girls"?
New York: Are we the Fug girls? No, we're not the Fug girls.
Spencer: You're not those fugly girls? Because I'm not too happy with the fugly girls. They're mean, and they're disrespectful. They've got these … fashion girls — the fashion girls, they're fashion!
New York: Right, we know who they are. But no, we're not the Fug girls.
Spencer makes a move to retreat, and just when we think we've lost him, he turns back around!
Spencer: So what's up?
New York: Glad you asked! You're fresh from the White House Correspondents' Dinner in D.C. What did you do while you were there?
Spencer: We checked out all the, uh, the … sights. I don't know, we literally had, like, five hours.
New York: So you actually went to the dinner, right? We heard you skipped the dinner or weren't let in?
Spencer: We had the governor of Florida at our table! You really heard we didn't go?
New York: Yeah, that was the word on the street. But you went, and sat with the governor.
Spencer: We went, we stayed all through dinner, we had dessert. It was good.
New York: So, Heidi endorsed John McCain for the 2008 election. Are you endorsing anyone?
Spencer: She's definitely swaying my vote. I met his mother and his daughter. Did you know his mother is 97?
New York: We did know that. She's quite the firecracker for her age.
Spencer: Yeah — so cool! Heidi, it's New York magazine
Heidi Montag sidles up to Spencer. We somehow prevent ourselves from fainting.
Heidi: Hi, nice to meet you.
Spencer: We were just talking about John McCain. Since you endorsed him, are you volunteering or doing any work on his campaign?
Heidi: I just met Megan! I love Megan McCain!
New York: Are you having fun in New York?
Heidi: Yeah, it's good.
New York: Did you see the film?
Heidi: No, I was on David Letterman.

Heidi: "I Tried to Help" Lauren Get the Tape Back

Heidi Montag says she isn't to blame for the Lauren Conrad sex tape drama.

"I tried to help her get it back for, like, a year," Montag said on the Late Show With David Letterman Wednesday. "I was like, 'You gotta get it back, you gotta do something about this.'"

When Conrad's ex Jason Wahler threatened to release it, Montag claimed, "she was like, 'I don't know what to do...' I was like, 'Well, let's get it back.'

"Next thing I know," Montag continued, "it's blamed on me. All of a sudden, I made up the sex tape... I didn't film it, I didn't do it, I'm not trying to sell it. How did it come down on me?"

Asked when the tape would come out, she told Letterman, "I don't know. I'm wondering that myself."

After accusing her of spreading the rumors, Montag said she doesn't think the two could ever be friends again. "Blaming a sex tape on me, making a whole season on it..." she said. "I'm not so sure."

Montag and Pratt refueled the sex tape rumors rumors Tuesday during an appearance on The Tyra Banks Show, where he declared footage exists "for 100 percent fact."

Wahler shot back Wednesday on Usmagazine.com, saying Pratt "is lying ... I do not have a sex tape of Lauren Conrad and one does not exist."

Pratt fired back: "Jason's statement couldn't be more transparent. Notice how he uses present tense, 'I DO not have a sex tape... one DOES not exist.'"
